Then
the Master told his servant to, “Go out on the roads around you, and search
everywhere. Find people and compel them to come and be my guests; to fill the
house for the great celebration.” (Luke 14:23)
Do
your people understand that you want them, and all the others in your sphere of
influence, to be a part of the community of faith God has called you to establish
and lead? Have you asked them? Has your love for them compelled them enough to
overcome their resistance? If not, what are you waiting for?
Clearly,
the Master has said He wants you to do this. He didn’t give you a lesson or a
program to tell you how to do it, because He plans to be there with you as you
encounter each person. The job is to go to them. To be there, and then ask the
Lord for understanding, and for the words or actions that will show that loving
them is your job description. The love of Jesus Christ, as shown to other
people through you, is what will compel them to join the community and become a
part the celebration in accomplishing God’s vision with you.
Hear
the Lord today. As you go down the roads you travel, search for those who need
to come to the Lord’s big celebration.
